A tour to the South Pacific is to wander the proverbial ‘Road Less Travelled.’ The mixture of Maori and British influences, the arid deserts and the lofty snow-capped peaks, glaciers and forests, strange animals and rugged sports – all make for a heady blend of experiences that cannot be found anywhere else.
Australia is a huge country/continent – most of which is barren and empty. The massive Eucalyptus-filled Blue Forest near Sydney and the penguin colonies by Melbourne along with the picturesque Island of Tasmania are our primary destinations in the Land Down Under. Dijaredoos and Chamber orchestras and the magnificent Sydney Opera House share time on our tour with the local Jewish communities with whom we visit. We get to pet Koalas and watch Kangaroos in their natural habitat. Strange – and fascinating too! And to think that this was once a mean penal colony established by the British as a place to which they would exile the most hardened criminals. They’ve come a long way!
Then there’s New Zealand – the land of the Hobbit and tens of millions of sheep. Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch are the cities that we visit in between the spectacular mountains, glaciers, caves and sounds through which we travel as we explore the bountiful nature with which this nation has been blessed.
